The viewing figures of the highly criticized Marieke Elsinga show The Jump are dropping. She loses about a fifth of her audience. “The real test is still to come.”
Marieke Elsinga is on air with a new program in which she throws candidates who give an incorrect answer off a bridge. Nice, uncomplicated entertainment for Saturday evenings, says RTL 4. Silly television, say critics. Johan Derksen has even expressed his sincere pity for the presenter.
‘Damage is not too bad’
It was already clear that The Jump’s viewing figures would drop, but the only question was how many people would drop out. And the damage is not too bad, reports ratings agency Tina Nijkamp. “Given the bad reviews, it’s not too bad: 731 thousand viewers yesterday. Last week the program had 888 thousand linear viewers.”
It is mainly due to a lack of competition that the damage remains limited, according to Tina. “A very big relief for Marieke and RTL 4. The real test is November 11. Then Marieke will have competition from Even Tot Hier.”
Frugal Linda
Now Marieke’s biggest competitor is Linda de Mol, but the fallen TV queen is no longer a huge crowd puller. She only had four thousand more viewers. “Still an okay ending after a very mediocre I Love Holland season,” Tina concludes.
The winner in prime time was Linda’s arch-rival Chantal Janzen, who managed to charm 902,000 viewers with Linda’s TV child Oh Wat A Year. “Not a SINGLE primetime program over a million. Very striking.”
0 euros
Back to Marieke. What is Tina’s criticism of her show The Jump? “0 euros were spent in an hour and a half. It won’t be a new One Against 100, will it? No one ever wins anything there.”
She also thinks it is very similar to De Kwis met Ballen, the Johnny de Mol show in which people do not fall off a bridge, but are pushed into the water with a ball. “The presenter also wears the same clothes every episode. Johnny de Mol a tropical blouse and Marieke a purple suit. This makes it easy to cut and paste during installation.”
