In the voice memo, which Marieke’s radio partner Mattie Valk played in the morning show, she says: “I often get the question: how do you keep it up, that you make radio and television? My answer is always: I just think it’s the best thing to do. It gives me a lot of energy. But lately I notice that it actually costs me energy. And that’s why I decided to step on the brakes for a moment, so that in two years I can still say that this is the most fun thing to do. That is why I will not be making radio for a while.”
Marieke Elsinga prevents burnout
In the coming period Marieke will focus her attention on her boyfriend Sander, family and friends. “That way I just want to get back that energy that I love so much,” she says in the voice message.
According to Mattie, a burnout is not the reason that Marieke wants to take it easy. According to him, this is precisely prevented in this way. “She just needs a break. I know Marieke very well, because she is a really good friend of mine. And I know it’s going to take her so much effort to make this decision.”
He hopes that Marieke will be able to sit back for a while. “And that she just hooks up again when the time comes. In the meantime, we guard the fort with Anne-Marie, Joe and Tom.”
No departure
The morning show will continue as usual for the foreseeable future – with the permanent team, only temporarily without Marieke. With the emphasis on ‘temporary’, because the rumors about a possible departure from Qmusic are ‘pertinently not true’ according to Mattie.
