Maria Radionova (27) gives a very moving testimony about the March 16 bombing of the theater in Mariupol, Ukraine. An estimated 300 of the 1,300 civilians who were sheltering there perished there. Maria was also inside, but not in the shelter.
The woman tells how a man shielded her with his own body, about her despair and the blind panic after the explosions. “I didn’t go to the shelter itself, but I’m convinced that a lot of people died there,” she says. “Not only because of the rocket, but also because of panic.”
