Margriet van der Linden went down silently. The very last episode of her little-loved talk show M did not attract enough attention yesterday for a place in the top 15 viewership.
It is extremely painful for Margriet van der Linden: really nobody was talking about her talk show M. The program had no impact at all and nobody watched it. On some evenings she even fell out of the top 25 viewership. Yesterday she was there with her very last episode, but only in place 18. There were 615 thousand people (18%).
too woke
Why M scored so badly? The program was ‘woker than woke’, says Angela de Jong in the AD. “But none of those involved seem to want to recognize the connection between the two.”
TV connoisseur Bert van der Veer agrees: “M was quite strict in his teaching. Say predictable, serious and woke, that’s what it’s called these days, isn’t it?”
And TV maker Carlo van Lienden in De Telegraaf: “The woke level was extremely high. It is more of a niche talk show than one for a leading channel in the Netherlands, like NPO 1 is. This is better weekly on NPO 2 or NPO 3.”
Neither crack nor taste
It was also too negative, according to Carlo. “If you had seen a broadcast, you had the feeling: well, hope that tomorrow the light will still come on outside. This may well be the last night we sit on the couch together. It was all very heavy handed and very responsible. That can have a function, but not on NPO 1.”
And Jan Slagter in the talk show Jinek: “It was all very woke. Every time I didn’t feel like: I missed something if I didn’t see it.”
cops on one
On to prime time: NPO 1 was the winner with 1.5 million viewers (26%) for Flikken Maastricht. The top three in prime time is completed by Twee voor Twaalf with 1.1 million viewers (18%) on NPO 2 and I Can See Your Voice with 1.1 million viewers (19%) on RTL 4. This is followed by MAX Pubquiz with 875 thousand viewers (19%) on NPO 1.
Furthermore, SBS 6 was the most popular: De Alleskunner VIPS attracted 620 thousand viewers (11%) and Today Inside had 621 thousand (14%).
Viewing figures
Programs that (also) did not reach the top fifteen viewing figures include Hart van Nederland (596 thousand), Tijd voor MAX (576 thousand), Shownieuws (423 thousand), De Geknipte Gast (423 thousand), HLF8 (332 thousand) and Big Brother (232 thousand).
