Marek Kalmus, 52, has died

The bodybuilder had cancer.

Estonian bodybuilder Marek Kalmus has died at the age of 52. They tell about it Postimees magazine and the Kalmus family.

The bodybuilder died the night before Saturday.

– Dear Marek left us on this windy night. He was strong, fought bravely and believed until the last moment that he would overcome everything as a winner. But he too was human and eventually tired of the long fight, the family said on Facebook.

Kalmus won the WFF world championship three times and four European championships. He also won the Estonian championships and one powerlifting competition.

The bodybuilder had liver cancer.

– A sample was taken from me at Tartu University Hospital. They said I should be dead already, Kalmus said For the postman in August.

Kalmus previously had the coronavirus disease three times. He lost his appetite and lost 27 kilograms of muscle mass.

After the cancer diagnosis, the bodybuilder asked how many people have survived liver cancer. Kalmus said he didn’t get an answer. He decided to leave the hospital.

Kalmus treated himself with herbs. He spent most of the days in bed.

– Never give up, never give up. Marek lived by this idea. He would recommend it to everyone even now, the family wrote.

In his last years, Kalmus worked as a nutritionist and coach.
