The Italian eyewear manufacturer Marcolin SpA has expanded its own brand portfolio. On Wednesday the company announced the completion of the acquisition of Ic! Berlin. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Marcolin said it took full control of the label, which was founded in the German capital in 1996. The approximately 140 employees in the Berlin headquarters and the production facility there as well as in two subsidiaries in Japan and the USA will be integrated into the group organization, according to a statement.
The acquisition is part of the company’s strategy to expand expertise in metal processing and expand the portfolio in the high-growth luxury segment, said Marcolin. It also helps to strengthen the market position in key regions such as Asia and Europe.
Next to Ic! In Berlin, Marcolin has another brand of its own: Web Eyewear. The group also holds the eyewear licenses for well-known fashion and shoe labels such as Tom Ford, Guess, Adidas, Max Mara, Zegna, Tod’s, Timberland and Skechers and operates its own sales network.
