Marco Borsato case may not come to court until 2025: ‘Láng!’

Marco Borsato’s lawyer would not be surprised if his case is not heard until 2025, and he simply remains on the reserve bench until then. “That’s certainly possible.”

Marco Borsato has been on the reserve bench for more than two years now. The Public Prosecution Service finally announced at the end of September that the singer will be prosecuted for indecency with a minor, but it will take some time before it becomes clear whether he is actually guilty or not. In fact, his lawyer Gert-Jan Knoops does not even know whether the case will be heard in 2024.

Not until 2025?

It drives Marco completely crazy, says Gert-Jan NPO Radio 1. “Under the circumstances, things are not going so well, due to the enormous pressure of that criminal case and the fact that he can no longer resume his work as a result. We have no indication when that case will occur. It remains to be seen whether that will happen this year.”

Is it really conceivable that this will be extended to 2025? “That’s certainly possible. We don’t know that either. That also depends on the completion of the preliminary investigation.”

Handwriting

Peter Plasman, who represents the alleged victim, acknowledges Show news that it all takes a very long time. “That has to do with the fact that there is also an active defense. Various sub-studies have been carried out. An investigation was carried out, which, I understand, took quite a long time into the handwriting that was allegedly under discussion.”

He continues: “And the general problem is just the overload of the Public Prosecution Service, that it just takes a really long time.”

Arguments

Does Gert-Jan think he has a strong case? “In any case, we have enough arguments to defend Marco. For us, the carefulness of the process is more important than the time pressure on this case.”

Story boss Guido den Aantrekker: “It takes a very long time. The idea that it might not even happen this year… Yeah, what does that say about that case, right…”
