M.ARCY ON ROME
Genre: documentary ✦✦ 1/2
Direction: Mark Cousins. With Alba Rohrwacher
On the anniversary of the event that symbolically marked the seizure of power by fascism in Italy the documentary by the Irish critic and interviewer is released which opened the Venice Days.
If Trump quotes a famous phrase from Mussolini, it does not serve anything else to stretch a thread between the eras and the different authoritarianisms. And the rationalist architectures of Rome, taken up in abundance, raise questions about the advisability of conservation.
They are worth the vision – more than the analysis of the manipulation carried out by Umberto Paradisi with the documentary To us (1922) – the pictures shot among the people from Elvira Notari, a true alternative to the deadly rhetoric of the twenty-year period.
