The last Jersey school to conquer the Sweet 16s was the much better known Seton Hall, directed by Shaheen Holloway, now coach of Saint Peter’s. The Peacocks are just the third number 15 seeded to capture a top 16 spot in NCAA Tournament history. There is also an unusual face to be associated with the feat, that of Doug Edert, a mustache out of fashion and physically nerdy-looking, who from the bench made the difference against Wildcats and Racers. A fairytale within a fairytale for the white exterior, unimaginable until yesterday in the role of intrepid David winning over the colossus Goliath.
