March and gloomy seconds at HPK: “The situation doesn’t change at all”

In the playoffs of the two newest Finnish champions, Lukko defeated HPK 3–0. As late as the end of February, everything looked good for HPK. It was firmly in the six-handed race and competed fiercely for the home front of the semi-finals. At the beginning of October, the team, under the leadership of the new head coach Jarno Pikkarainen, took the lead convincingly until the flight stalled at the worst possible time as the decision times of the season approached.
