Marcelo Claure becomes Vice Chairman of Shein

Chinese fast fashion retailer Shein appoints Marcelo Claure as vice president.

Claure, a current investor in the company, will help accelerate strategic growth initiatives across the group’s global markets as group vice chairman, Shein said on Monday.

The new group vice president joined Shein in January from the investment firm SoftBank Group International and previously held the title of Chairman of Shein Latin America. Since then, he has overseen the launch of the marketplace in Brazil and the allocation of $150 million (142 million euros) to locate Shein’s production facilities in the country.

As Group Vice Chair, Claure will also continue in his current role as Chairman of Shein Latin America, working closely with Shein CEO Sky Xu, Executive Chairman Donald Tang and the company’s leadership team around the world, according to the release .

“Marcelo’s leadership and relationships have been instrumental in strengthening Shein’s business development and strategy in key markets,” said Executive Chairman Donald Tang. “We have made great progress in localizing our business to benefit our customers and the communities in which we operate where they live worldwide.”
