The Stephanskirchen fashion retailer Marc O’Polo is expanding its online offering to include a rental service.
The company is testing the rental of its products from the premium casual collections in its own online shop, Marc O’Polo announced on Thursday. For the implementation, the fashion retailer got support from the leasing fashion provider Unown, which has been renting out Marc O’Polo womenswear on its own platform for a year.
“In the future, sustainability will not end with the raw materials and the manufacture of the product. It will also be crucial to optimize its life cycle,” said Maximilian Böck, CEO at Marc O’Polo. “As a premium casual lifestyle brand, we see a great opportunity for this business model, which has its origins in the high fashion industry, especially in the younger target group, for whom using rather than owning is much more important. Our customers can try out new things and simply test current trends first.”
At Marc O’Polo, “testing” is possible over a period of five days, two weeks or one or two months. If customers like the pieces, they can buy them or extend the rental period. Otherwise the goods will be returned after the rental period has expired. The products that are returned to the company are cleaned “professionally and in an environmentally friendly manner” and repaired in the event of minor damage, and then end up in the rental offer again.
