The fashion company Marc O’Polo from Stephanskirchen is now “Friend of ZDHC”. ZDHC stands for Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals. Based in Amsterdam, the ZDHC Foundation is a coalition of international companies and organizations working together to eliminate hazardous chemicals in the textile and clothing industry. The ZDHC Foundation’s Roadmap to Zero program provides a clear path to reduce environmental impact and ensure chemicals used in production are safe for people and the environment. The ZDHC’s most well-known tool is the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL), a list of hazardous chemicals that may not be used or may only be used in defined concentrations.
With this cooperation, the company is committed to banning chemical substances that are harmful to the environment and health and to adopting the ZDHC MRSL standards in the supply chain. “Being a Friend of ZDHC is a very important step in our vision to become the leading sustainable casual lifestyle brand in the global premium segment. By using the ZDHC Gateway and relevant guidelines, together with our suppliers we are pursuing the goal of ensuring safe chemicals and a sustainable chemical management system throughout the supply chain,” says Susanne Schwenger, Chief Product Officer Marc O’Polo AG.
