Marc-Marie Huijbregts has moved through the showbiz world for years with a wig on his head. In all that time, it has only happened to him twice that a well-known colleague caught him.
It was a special moment in 2009 in De Wereld Draait Door: Marc-Marie Huijbregts suddenly appeared bare in the picture. He revealed that he had secretly walked around in a wig for ten years. We don’t know him any different now, but in that decade he has been terrified that people would catch him.

It happened twice that Marc-Marie’s secret was discovered by a fellow celebrity. “I remember doing Amadeus with Tjitske Reidinga and she was someone who once said: ‘Isn’t your hair real?’ I thought: what?! Then she said, ‘Well, it’s very hot, everyone is very hot, and you never really take your hair out of your face from the heat.’”
He continues in his podcast Marc-Marie and Aaf Find Something: “I’m not much of a sweat person anyway, but she said, ‘I can see a little sweat, but you never get your hair out of your face like that.’ Of course you would if it’s really hot. Then she started paying attention to that and then she said, ‘Suddenly I thought, maybe it’s not real hair.’”
‘I lost urine’
What did Marc-Marie say when Tjitske confronted him about it? “Uwhuhuhu,” he says. “I lost a little bit of urine. I said, ‘Indeed.’ If someone has put the puzzle together themselves, I think it’s a bit weird to gaslight someone. Then you make the other person such a madman. If they guessed then…”
He concludes: “Jelka van Houten also said it once, but I don’t think she realized it herself. She said at ‘t Schaep: ‘Are you wearing two wigs?’ Of course I had a wig on that on my regular wig. So I had on two fur hats and it was very hot. It was horrible. I then said, ‘Oh, I’m being called!’ I just gaslighted it.”
