How do you celebrate half a century in the fashion industry?
The Bodelshausen-based fashion company Marc Cain answered this question with a large anniversary fashion show at the company’s headquarters in the Swabian Jura.
Helmut Schlotterer founded his company here in 1973 with the vision of his own knitwear brand, and on Thursday the label’s home in Baden-Württemberg became the setting for the presentation of the fifty-piece anniversary collection.
The focal point of the evening, which was themed “Midsummer Night’s Dream”, was the love of knitwear and leopard print, as well as German and international celebrities who attended the brand’s milestone.
While Hollywood actress Diane Kruger was invited as a guest star, there was also a star cast on the catwalk. Top model Karolina Kurkova opened the fashion show and ended it arm in arm with Schlotterer.
In addition to the anniversary collection, the models also presented highlights from the autumn/winter 2023 collection as well as a little foretaste of the upcoming spring. The anniversary pieces were available online and at retail partners immediately after the show, which was livestreamed.
“This evening moved me deeply,” says Schlotterer. “Back in 1973, when I founded Marc Cain, I would have never thought it possible to achieve what we have achieved today: global player, pioneer in knitwear, stores and showrooms all over the world and number one in premium women’s fashion. The evening is the culmination of the last few decades, which have shown me that while there must be a vision in the beginning, the road to success is paved with innovation, technology and progress.”
