De Hagenaar threw out his rod on Wednesday afternoon after he saw a striking fish in the water at the Loosduinsekade. “With a heavy rod I had it in after 30 minutes.” When he pulled the fish out of the water, it turned out to be a very rare golden catfish. “He was 117 cm tall and weighed about 30 pounds,” said the fisherman proudly.

Marc has been fishing for over 40 years but had never caught a golden catfish before. “It’s definitely my most special catch.” He unhooked the animal after the catch and then took a few pictures. “Then put it back neatly.”
