49-year-old Menderes Akın from Şanlıurfa, who made a name for himself with his resemblance to the Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona, who died in 2020, surprises those who see him. Akın, who lives in Ceylanpınar district, stated that his friends had compared him to Maradona since his childhood, and that he did not care about this situation until he was 48 years old. Akın stated that he shared a video on social media upon the request of his friends, and continued his sharing after receiving great interest.

Stating that he went to the fields upon the insistence of his friends, Menderes Akın said, “I was born in Şanlıurfa Ceylanpınar. I am originally from Mardin. I live in Ceylanpınar. Since my childhood, my friends have always compared me to Maradona. Of course, I was not okay with it. One day, I shared a video of mine on social media. My video broke a record. I I continued to share my videos. I received offers from everywhere. I still did not accept it. Until there was a knock on my door, many people came. I said let me try my luck and see what happens. We are on the field upon the intense request of my friends. They said, ‘Maradona, come down to the field.’ “Maradona is now on the field. From now on, we will continue on our way. Stating that there is intense interest in him, Akın said, “Wherever people see me in the neighbourhood, around the house, they say Maradona. I cannot go out on the streets. My fans support me very much, and I value and love them. I went to the fields for the sake of my fans.
