MAP | Corona figures throughout the east of the Netherlands down, former fires stand out | Region

In the whole of the eastern Netherlands, the counter today stands at 3256 new corona cases. That is more than 600 fewer than Tuesday, when a significant increase in the number of infections was reported.

Most new positive tests in the eastern Netherlands come from the safety region of North and East Gelderland: 1728. In IJsselland, that number has fallen below the limit of a thousand: 967 and in Flevoland there are 561 infections.

On the corona map, Brummen and Zutphen have the most infections per 100,000 inhabitants. That is 282.5 and 274.4 respectively. In an absolute sense, there are 59 positive tests in Brummen and 132 in Zutphen.

Two municipalities stand out because they are below the limit of 100 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. These are Staphorst (98.5) and Urk (14.1). In Staphorst that comes down to 17 positive tests and in Urk there are 3. Earlier in the corona crisis, Staphorst and Urk were still considered corona fires because of the many infections.

Across the Netherlands, 27,818 new corona cases have been registered with the RIVM in the past 24 hours. That is 2,904 fewer than Tuesday, when a total of 30,722 new infections were identified.

In the past seven days, RIVM registered 207,375 positive test results. That equates to an average of 29,626 new cases per day. This number has been steadily declining for some time. The number of infections is currently at its lowest level since the beginning of this year, when the omikron wave started to get underway.

The most new infections were counted in Amsterdam in the past 24 hours, namely 1163. Rotterdam followed with 1047 positive tests. Also in The Hague (743), Utrecht (658) and Groningen (436), relatively many people received a positive test result.

The number of patients with corona in Dutch hospitals fell by 77 to 1979, according to the most recent figures from the National Coordination Center for Patients Spreading (LCPS). That number has been hovering around 2000 for about two weeks.

There are now 1,855 corona patients in the nursing wards, 78 fewer than on Tuesday. 124 corona patients are currently being treated in intensive care units, one more than the previous day. On Tuesday, that number fell to its lowest level since July last year.

RIVM reports 35 new deaths today, almost a doubling compared to a day earlier. That does not mean that these people actually died in the past 24 hours. According to the corona dashboard, there are a total of three new deaths in the east of the Netherlands, one in each security region.
