MAP | A quarter fewer corona cases than yesterday, Urk is the only one not to have a single new infection | Region

CHECK YOUR MUNICIPALITYThe number of new corona infections across the region has fallen for the fifth day in a row. The total number of new cases has decreased by more than a quarter. Where 2101 positive tests were registered yesterday, that number is today 1524.

The largest decrease can be seen in the North and East Gelderland security region, where 801 people have tested positive in the past 24 hours. A day ago there were more than 250 more. The decrease is relatively greatest in the IJsselland safety region. 459 corona cases have been identified there in the past 24 hours. Yesterday this number was still at 661.

The number of new infections in the province of Flevoland has also fallen sharply. A day ago, 381 people were tested positive there. Today the number of cases is 269. The decrease is not only clearly visible in the daily figures. Today’s infection numbers are also well below weekly averages.

Oldebroek is by far the municipality with relatively the most new infections. With 147.3 positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants, and 35 infections in absolute numbers, the Veluwe municipality stands out above the rest. Oldebroek is followed by Elburg and Brummen. These account for 128 and 124.5 positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants. This amounts to 30 and 26 infections respectively.

Urk has been at the bottom of the infection lists for quite some time now. Today, the fishing village does not even have a single new infection. Urk is the only municipality in the region where no one has tested positive for the corona virus in the past 24 hours.

In addition to Urk, the Flevoland municipalities of Noordoostpolder and Lelystad are also in good shape. In the Noordoostpolder, 39.9 people per 100,000 inhabitants have tested positive in the past 24 hours. In Lelystad this relative share is 43.9. In absolute numbers, Noordoostpolder accounts for 19 and Lelystad for 35 infections.

Across the Netherlands, 12,387 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in the past 24 hours. Yesterday there were more than 4,500 more with 16,936 infections. The daily infection rate is almost 10,000 corona cases lower than the weekly average of 22,372.

There are currently 1741 corona patients in hospitals. Of these, 1,624 are in the regular wards. There are 117 corona patients in intensive care. The number of admissions to both regular care and intensive care has decreased compared to 24 hours ago. The number of patients in the regular wards has decreased by 9 people, in intensive care there are 8 fewer people today than yesterday.

In the past 24 hours, 7 people have died from the effects of the corona virus. Yesterday 14 people died from Covid-19.
