No subscription or entrance ticket is needed in Zwinderen today. Due to the 25th anniversary of the municipality of Coevorden, the swimming pool opens its doors. At three o’clock the counter was already at seven hundred visitors.
It is one of the festivities organized in the municipality, says Liesbeth Mennink on behalf of Stichting Bosbad Zwinderen. “It is the 25th anniversary of the municipality of Coevorden and we have a twenty-five meter pool here, we let people swim 25 laps, the water is 25 degrees and today is June 25. So we thought: this must be it.”
Visitors can swim recreationally in the pool or participate in a competition in the lap pool. Many people use that. Also the sisters Ismay and Lyenn from Nieuwlande. They compete for the fastest time and have a strategy for that. “We swam about fifty meters,” says Ismay. “If the other taps the edge, you have to dive right in,” adds Lyenn. Both ladies are in the swimming sport and have held the record of the day for a long time.
