Many questions about Marvin’s death: what do we know about the man who lay in a garden for two days?

The more stories come out, the more new questions it raises about the death of 37-year-old Marvin from Hoorn. Although the investigation in the area has been completed, the police do not want to say much about the man who was found lifeless in a garden of a neighbor across the street.

Back to New Year’s Eve. According to local residents, Marvin went to a party with a neighbor across the street where he reportedly got into a fight. “Around 6:00 in the morning I heard a fight. I didn’t think about it anymore,” says a neighbor.

January 2, 2 p.m
On January 1, Marvin is reported missing by his family. Yet he is not found until a day later. Dead in the neighbor’s garden. Around 2 p.m., the street fills up with police. The area around the house where Marvin was found is cordoned off and forensic investigators go to work.

The police are also conducting a neighborhood investigation from which local residents conclude that it is a crime. An image that seems to be confirmed by neighbors who have a view of the garden in question. “My husband called yesterday afternoon for me to come up and see it,” she continues with regret. “I didn’t really want to see it, but then I walked up anyway. There I saw a man on a garden chair lying bent over on a table. He had a black object stuck in his back. I couldn’t see it very well, but it looked like a knife.”

The police themselves are silent and we do not learn more about the investigation at that time than this message on Twitter.

The police are still busy in and around the house. It is also the day the victim gets a face. It’s 37-year-old Marvin. He leaves behind a girlfriend and a 13-year-old daughter. Because he is not insured for a funeral, acquaintances launched a support campaign.

Only two days after Marvin’s body was found, the area was released by the police. The investigation at the site appears to be complete. The shock nearby is still big. “Marvin was a nice guy,” says a neighbor.

Many questions, few answers

Death also raises many questions. For example, a neighbor says: “Marvin was already reported missing on January 1 by his family. I think it’s crazy and a bad idea that they didn’t find him until the next afternoon in a backyard of the neighbor across the street.”

These questions make sense. What you would think that at least the relevant neighbor should know more. But so far no one has been arrested as a suspect. And the police are not yet answering questions. “Unfortunately, there is no new information that we can and should share today,” said a spokesperson.
