The Manx GP records his second victim. After the disappearance of Gary Vinesit fell to Ian Bainbridge run into a fatal accident on Tuesday 22 August on the roads of theIsle of Man, in the UK. She was 69 years old. A fatal crash occurred in the qualifying session in the evening. At around 19.30, the British rider of Bernard Castle lost control of his bike, a Norton, at the exit of Kirk Michael Village during his launch lap. This section of the trail was closed for three hours to allow for investigations. Bainbridge leaves behind a wife and two daughters.

Ian was a veteran of this type of road racing given his 30-year career. The first appearance in the Manx GP took place in 2005 and since then the Englishman has not participated in only two editions of this competition. His best result was an eighth place in the 2010 Classic Senior Manx Grand Prix. In addition Bainbridge also took part in the Pre TT Classic and the Bob McIntyre Memorial Races.

The organizers of the Manx GP made known the death and showed their grief with a note: “We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Ian’s wife, his two daughters, his loved ones and friends”. Furthermore, a detail of Bainbridge’s generosity is remembered: “he was also a staunch supporter of these races, helping new riders to obtain their license as an active member of the North East Motorcycle Racing Club”.
