Füchse Berlin have successfully defended their lead in the Handball Bundesliga.
The Berliners celebrated a hard-fought 30:28 (16:12) victory at HC Erlangen on Saturday evening. For the foxes it was the seventh competitive win in a row. Best Berlin throwers in Nuremberg Hans Lindberg with nine and Paul Drux and Jacob Holm with six goals. Nico Büdel, Johannes Sellin and Christoph Steinert each scored five times for Erlangen.
Under the eyes of national soccer goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, a very hectic game developed from the start with many mistakes on both sides. The foxes took the lead straight away, but revealed a few gaps in the center of defence. And also in attack they acted too unfocused at one time or another.
Nevertheless, the Berliners benefited from the numerous technical errors, all of which punished them coldly. After a good 22 minutes, the lead grew to four goals for the first time (13:9). A period of weakness on the part of the guests then allowed the Franconians to run 3-0, but the foxes had a direct answer before the break.
The Berliners followed suit after the change of sides and even pulled away to six goals (19:13). But then things got hectic again and the foxes got infected.
Erlangen came back, but in the end keeper Dejan Milosavljev saved his team’s narrow away win with strong saves.
