Police have found a rifle at the scene of the incident and believe the suspect shot from a roof. As this is an active incident, everyone is advised to stay indoors.
Police say the gunman is a white, thin man between the ages of 18 and 20 wearing a white or blue T-shirt and longer black hair. The man is still wanted. “This is an active incident. Everyone is advised to stay indoors,” the city council said.
Mayor Nancy Rotering expressed her condolences to the families of the victims. “This morning at 10:14 am, our community has been terrorized by an act of violence that has deeply shocked us. On a day when we came together to celebrate community and freedom, we instead mourn the tragic loss and grapple with the terror inflicted upon us.”
All festivities around July 4 were cancelled.
