Mango, Asos and Armani react to Ukraine war

Mango has temporarily halted all business operations in Russia and Asos is also halting trading in Russia and Ukraine.

Although Mango had tried to maintain business activities in Russia for as long as possible out of a sense of responsibility towards the 800 Russian employees, the company has now stopped stationary and online sales, the Spanish fashion retailer announced on Thursday that it also supplies goods to franchise companies are stopped. 65 of the 120 Mango branches in Russia are franchisees who are allowed to continue to sell as far as their stock allows.

In addition, Mango will provide financial support to employees who have had to flee Ukraine or are still there. Mango also donated €100,000 to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which is helping those affected by the conflict. According to the company, clothing will also be donated.

Asos ceases operations in Ukraine and Russia

Against the background of the war by Russia, Asos has also stopped all sales activities in Russia. In the 2021 financial year, sales to Russia and Ukraine accounted for around four percent of sales – around 20 million British pounds (about 24 million euros). British online retailer Asos has also stopped selling to Ukraine. The reason for this is that it “has become impossible to supply customers there”.

Armani humanitarian action

Armani is also committed to Ukraine – on Friday the Italian fashion house announced a donation of 500,000 euros to the United Nations Refugee Organization. The donations are intended to help protect refugees. A donation in kind, distributed by the Sant’Edigio Community, is also planned.
