Manchester United stock: Ronaldo hints at staying at club

“I wish him the best and I believe we will win trophies next year,” said the English Premier League club’s exceptional striker in an interview with the club. “What I know about him is that he has done a fantastic job for Ajax, that he is an experienced coach,” added the 37-year-old Portuguese.

Manchester United will finish this season without a title and, being sixth in the table, has no chance of qualifying for the Champions League. “Things have to change as he wants, but we have to give him time,” said Ronaldo of the Dutch football coach who succeeds caretaker coach Ralf Rangnick in the summer. Rangnick will then continue to work as a consultant for the Red Devils, he will take over as coach of the Austrian national team.

“Obviously I hope we succeed. Because if you succeed, the whole of Manchester will succeed too. I wish him the best,” said Ronaldo. “We are happy and excited, not only as players but also as fans.”

The tabloid “Mirror” had previously speculated about Ronaldo’s early departure in the summer. But Ronaldo had already indicated in an Instagram message that he would stay. “Our goal is to get better every day,” Ronaldo wrote, “so that we can achieve what we all want: glory for Man United!”
