Manchester United: Qatar Sheikh withdraws offer

England’s football record champions Manchester United will probably not be sold to a consortium from Qatar.

As the “BBC” reported on Saturday, Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani is said to have withdrawn his billion-dollar offer for the Red Devils. The sales process had stalled significantly in recent months.

After several bids at the beginning of the year, Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos Group were in the best position to purchase the club.

However, for the unpopular Glazer family, current owners of Man United, the sums of over six billion pounds were apparently too small.

The consortium from Qatar, headed by Sheikh Jassim, had announced that it would pay off the club’s debts of £970 million, but in return would retain complete control of the record champions. Radcliffe apparently wanted a smaller share.
