Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood was released on bail on Wednesday. The 21-year-old Englishman was remanded in custody on Monday on charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive conduct.
On Wednesday, a bail application was considered behind closed doors. A spokesman for the court confirmed that bail had been granted. One of the conditions is that Greenwood is not allowed to have contact with witnesses, including the alleged victim.
Greenwood is due to appear in court on November 21. The attacker was arrested in January on suspicion of raping and assaulting his ex-girlfriend. He was released on bail, but was arrested again on Saturday and charged. He appeared in court for the first time on Monday.
Greenwood, who played once for the England national team, played his last game for United in January. He was banned by the club until further notice after his first arrest.
