Leaders Manchester City have suffered a surprising setback in the English Premier League. Coach Pep Guardiola’s team did not get more than 1-1 (0-1) at FC Southampton and did not score three times for the first time after twelve league wins in a row.
With 57 points, the Skyblues are still enthroned at the top, the lead over Liverpool FC, who plays at Crystal Palace on Sunday (3 p.m. / Sky), is twelve points.
Kyle Walker-Peters (7th) even let the outsider sniff the big sensation for a while, Aymeric Laporte (65th) at least managed to equalize for the Citizens. Southampton had previously missed a few chances to make it 2-0. After the equaliser, the favorite had two more bad luck with aluminum (70’/72′).
Earlier, team manager Ralf Rangnick clinched an important last-minute win with Manchester United. The Red Devils won 1-0 (0-0) against West Ham United with a goal from substitute Marcus Rashford in the third minute of added time. The record champions jumped past West Ham in the table.
The match between Brentford FC and Wolverhampton Wanderers was a strange game interruption. After around half an hour of play, referee Peter Bankers asked both teams into the dressing room when the score was 0-0 because a drone was circling over the field. After a 26-minute break, the first half continued with 19 minutes of added time, and the Wolves won 2-1.
