Loaned since 2020
Now it’s official: Right-back Pedro Porro will remain at Sporting Lisbon. As the Portuguese runners-up announced on Monday evening, the purchase option for the 22-year-old, who was loaned out by Manchester City, was exercised. The fee is reportedly 8.5 million euros. Porro signed a contract with Sporting until 2025 including an exit clause of 45 million euros. The “Citizens” are said to have secured a €20 million buyback option.
Porro, who joined Man City from FC Girona in 2019 but did not make any competitive appearances for the English team, has been at Sporting since 2020 and last year won the first Portuguese championship with the club in 19 years. Since moving to Lisbon, the defender has been directly involved in 18 goals in 72 games for Sporting and has increased his market value to €25m.
