Pep Guardiola has rejected speculation that Erling Haaland is reportedly unhappy at Manchester City.
“We don’t have the feeling that he is unhappy. He was because he couldn’t play for two months,” said the City coach.
Reports from Madrid are inaccurate. “Maybe they have more information than we do,” Guardiola said on Friday. “The important thing is that he is happy. And if he is unhappy, he will make a decision,” added the Spanish football coach.
After his almost two-month injury break, Haaland is ready to start the game in Brentford on Monday. The Norwegian was recently used again as a joker in the 3-1 win against Burnley. The 23-year-old striker had previously been out due to a foot injury.
In an interview published on the club website on Friday, Haaland spoke about his further goals with the triple champion. “I want to become even better with the team, even more stable, and bring my performance to the biggest games,” said the top attacker. And he wants to repeat the successes of the previous season, when he became champions, FA Cup winners and Champions League winners with City.
The defending champions are second in the Premier League, five points behind Liverpool FC under outgoing coach Jürgen Klopp. Liverpool have already played one more game.
