Managing director Angelika Schindler-Obenhaus is leaving the company

Gerry Weber International AG is contesting its future without managing director Angelika Schindler-Obenhaus.

As part of the restructuring of the board of directors to realign the company and the further implementation of the restructuring plan, it was mutually agreed with Schindler-Obenhaus that she would end her work early on September 30th, Gerry Weber announced on Tuesday.

The decision was preceded by discussions with Schindler-Obenhaus, the supervisory board and the company’s shareholders, in which “agreement was reached not to conclude a new contract as part of the planned conversion of the company into a GmbH,” according to the statement.

Schindler-Obenhaus worked for the Halle-based clothing manufacturer for a total of just over three years. She was appointed to the board of Gerry Weber International AG as Chief Operating Officer in August 2020 and became CEO and Chairwoman eight months later.

“On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board and our investors, I would like to thank Angelika Schindler-Obenhaus for her very valuable contribution to the development and realignment of the company,” says Alexander Gedat, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The “strategic course of sustainable restructuring of Gerry Weber” will continue.

Chief Restructuring Officer takes the helm for the time being

The outgoing managing director’s responsibilities will initially be taken over by Dirk Reichert, who has been in the role of advisory chief restructuring officer in the company since April. He will be appointed as a full member of the Board of Directors on October 1st.

Gerry Weber has been reorganizing and restructuring the German retail business since April. Just a month ago, the creditors of the insolvent clothing supplier voted with a large majority in favor of the restructuring plan.
