Leverkusen could be in trouble. Youngster Paulinho is apparently dissatisfied, which is why his management is said to have formulated an unusual request.
When Paulinho moved from Brazil to Bayer Leverkusen in 2018 for 18.5 million euros, the expectations of the then 18-year-old were high. Since then, however, the offensive player has rarely fulfilled them.
Paulinho before the jump?
The Brazilian is currently in a difficult position under coach Gerardo Seoane. Now his management is said to have advanced with a special demand: According to “Sky”, the Paulinho side wants to terminate the contract in Leverkusen prematurely one year before the end. Then the Brazilian could change free of charge. Allegedly there is interest from Italy and Brazil.
Meanwhile, Bayer 04 would not see a penny. Recently there had been speculation in the Brazilian media that Paulinho could leave Leverkusen for five million euros.
It remains to be seen how realistic both scenarios are. Because after the high investment four years ago, it would be an extraordinary step for the Rhinelanders to let the 2021 Olympic champion go with such a large transfer deficit. According to the “Transfermarkt.de” portal, Paulinho’s market value is currently eleven million euros.
