On Sarphatistraat, officers who happened to pass by were able to bring a seriously injured cyclist out of danger. The man collided with a pedestrian and suffered an arterial hemorrhage when he fell.
This was seen by two officers, who happened to be driving by at the time. Using a tourniquet, a belt specially designed to stop life-threatening bleeding, they were able to provide first aid.
The officers were relieved moments later by ambulance personnel who had landed at the park with a trauma helicopter. The man has since been taken to hospital.
