The man who was hit by a car in the Alkmaar district of Daalmeer last night turns out to be a 57-year-old Alkmaarder. He was crossing the Laan van Athene with his two dogs around 9:15 p.m. when he was hit by a 45-year-old fellow townsman near Eggestraat. One of the dogs did not survive the collision, the other was taken to a vet.
Whether that animal was injured and how it is doing now, a police spokesperson could not say. According to her, the 57-year-old Alkmaarder is seriously injured in a hospital. There was no news yet about his condition.
How the collision could have happened is under investigation. The motorist was taken to the police station last night for questioning, as is customary in serious accidents, and later ‘sent away’.
