Man who killed 2 girlfriends in Rome confesses and will appear in court in September
For months he claimed that he could not remember anything about the accident.
Jessy and her best friend Wibe died in October when they were helping themselves after a car accident in Rome. A 53-year-old Italian mowed them down. For months he said that he did not remember anything, now there is a confession. Evelyne Derumeaux, mother of Jessy: “It is a relief for us. We knew he was guilty, but it is still important for Jessy and for us. A confession says enough and does a lot.”
Many questions
The man was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, drove much too fast and did not have a driver’s license. He committed a hit and run. The case was supposed to be heard in Rome on September 26, but at his request it has now been moved to September 13. “It was a difficult situation for us. We had already booked everything, the flight, the hotel. We had to rebook everything. It is again an additional cost for us.”
On the other hand, the process cannot come soon enough, because the family still has many questions. “Why did he run away, why? You wouldn’t do that anyway. And is there anything else, about the accident itself. According to the police, Jessy was on the other side of the highway and according to the papers we are now getting from the court, Jessy was at the vehicle. How exactly does it work?”
The loss of Jessy still weighs very heavily. She and her friend Wibe will be forever 24 and 25 years old.
