Man United renew with Bruno Fernandes – Among best paid

Now one of the highest paid

9 goals and 14 assists in 37 competitive games – Bruno Fernandes is again the top scorer at Manchester United this season, just ahead of returnee and compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo (18 goals/3 assists). The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has now been rewarded by the club with a new and better-paid contract. As the “Red Devils” announced, the Portuguese is now bound until 2026 instead of 2025 as before – as usual with an option for another year. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Fernandes has moved up into the top three in United’s salary rankings, without the Italian giving any details.

The English record champions signed the right-footer from Sporting in January 2020 for 63 million euros, and the club only paid an even higher fee five times. Bonuses can increase the sum to 80 million euros. Since then, Fernandes has been directly involved in 88 goals in 117 games and has increased his market value from EUR 60m to the current EUR 90m. This makes the TM Portugal Footballer of the Year 2019 one of the ten most valuable players in the world.

“From the moment I joined Manchester United I have had a special relationship with this club and our amazing supporters,” Fernandes told the United website. “I grew up watching this team and dreamed of playing here one day. That dream is now a reality and an honor. Even after two years, it’s still a great feeling to come out at Old Trafford, hear the fans sing my song and score a goal in front of the Stretford End. It’s a real privilege to wear this shirt and fight for our incredible club.”
