Man sits next to dead woman for three days, investigation into guilty omission

The lifeless body of a 51-year-old woman was found Tuesday morning. Her partner would have sat next to the dead body for three days.

The victim was found Tuesday morning in an apartment in Verbrand Nieuwland, in the center of Bruges. It is not yet clear in what circumstances the victim died. The lab, the disembarkation team and the law doctor went to the scene to make the necessary determinations. An autopsy will also be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

The 40-year-old friend of the victim was already arrested on Tuesday for questioning. It is not yet clear whether the man will be brought before the investigating judge. It is not known why he did not call emergency services earlier. On Wednesday afternoon, the prosecutor’s office was able to confirm that it has demanded a judicial investigation for unintentional killing and culpable negligence. There doesn’t seem to be any murder at the moment.
