Manhunt
The police immediately launched a manhunt. A police helicopter was used in the search. In and around the camp, a meticulous search was also carried out for traces.

In the area, officers tried to retrieve CCTV footage showing the victim’s car. The police investigation lasted well into the night and resumed on Tuesday.

More often in the news
The trailer park has been in the news several times negatively in recent years. For example, there was once a stabbing and the police and judiciary regularly carried out drug and weapons checks.

Last October there was a gigantic police action – including at the camp. Large amounts of drugs, weapons, cash and fireworks were found. How much of this came from the camp on the Heezerweg is unknown.

Camp closure
Exactly one year ago, the municipality announced that it wants to close the camp. It would not be a safe and livable environment. The municipality has not yet responded to questions about the possible consequences of Monday’s shooting.
