A 51-year-old man died in a fall in the center of Avelgem on Thursday night. He allegedly had an argument with two men in a café earlier that night and died as a result of a fall during a skirmish. He was pushed, hit his head on the ground and died on the spot from his injuries.

Two men aged 34 and 36 were arrested. “The 34-year-old appeared before the Ypres investigating judge on Saturday and was arrested for intentional assault and battery resulting in death,” the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office reports. “He must appear before the council chamber on Tuesday.” The 36-year-old man who was arrested was allowed by the investigating judge.
