A 60-year-old resident of the De Germaan residential complex in Meppel has been lying dead in his apartment for quite some time. The police were called when neighbors started complaining about odor nuisance.
The single man was found last week in the apartment on Parallelweg. “It is a dramatic event,” says director Marcel van Halteren of housing corporation Woonconcept. “A local resident reported a strange smell. We have been contacted and the police have also been called in.”
The man is said to have been dead in his apartment for several weeks. A crime has now been ruled out. A specialized company is cleaning the house of the deceased man.
