A man died on Saturday evening in a parking lot at the Hazeldonk border crossing in Breda. The police suspect he was stabbed. Just before half past seven, the police received a report that someone was bleeding profusely in the parking lot at a gas station.
The emergency services were called and the man was resuscitated to no avail. The parking lot is located near a gas station, in the direction of travel from Antwerp to Breda. It is a place where many trucks park and many drivers spend the night.
A crime scene has been set up and an investigation has been launched, police said. They are looking for the perpetrator, but according to a police spokesperson, no suspect has been identified yet. “We are looking in the area to see if there are camera images to see what exactly happened.”
Trucks checked
The area is completely cordoned off and there are a lot of police on the scene. All access roads to and from the parking lot are closed.
Truck drivers in the parking lot are questioned and those sleeping in their cabs are woken up. Everyone who leaves the parking lot is checked and details of these people are recorded.
