During the night from Sunday to Monday, the police were called to a suspicious situation with three men in the harbor of Ridderkerk. During an attempt to escape, one of those men was hit by a truck, after which he died on the spot. Another fugitive was later arrested by police.
Security at the port area in Ridderkerk reported around 2.30 am that three men had been spotted. They were located between containers on the site.
After the police were alerted, the trio fled. During this escape attempt, one of the three men was hit by a truck. He died on the spot.
Later, one of the other fugitive men, a 27-year-old person from Heeze, was arrested. Police are currently investigating the cause of the incident. The third suspect is still being sought.
