47-year-old Himmet P. from Breda, who was involved in the torture of a couple in Wernhout at the end of 2018, has been sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in prison. The court in Breda decided this on Friday.
It all happened in a large villa on the Wernhoutseweg in Wernhout. Drug criminal P. ran a cannabis drying business in a shed near that house. He offered a couple with money problems a place to live in the villa, if in return they would keep an eye on whether anything strange happened to the drying plant.
However, the latter still went wrong on November 22, 2018. The shed was broken into and the vast majority of the weed turned out to be stolen. Much to the horror of P., who was terrified that he would be seen as guilty by his clients. He decided at that moment to lay the blame on the couple.
That same night, Himmet P. returned to the villa, together with two other men. Once inside, the man of the couple was dragged to the bathroom by the two ‘helpers’. There he was first beaten and kicked. When the man insisted that he had nothing to do with the theft, he was stabbed in the leg with a screwdriver and the men cut his hands and legs with a box cutter.
Multiple shots
Later, the men also used an iron against his leg, pierced his kneecap and pressed out several butts on his arms and legs. They poured salt into his wounds. One of the men then fired several shots from a handgun. They showed the bullet casings to his girlfriend. They told her they had shot the man. The woman also received several blows.
Ultimately, the trio decided to leave. The man was left seriously injured on the bathroom floor. He was missing several teeth. He also had lacerations, second-degree burns and holes in his kneecap and legs.
The judge imposed a prison sentence of 45 months on Himmet P. on Friday. Although he did not abuse the man himself, he was involved in the plans for this. He also did not intervene when the man was tortured in the villa and he did give the woman the necessary blows himself. The two men who helped Himmet P. were never arrested.
