An 81-year-old woman was pushed off her bicycle on the cycle path along the Bredaseweg in Zundert on Monday afternoon. The woman then fell into a ditch. A 33-year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested.
The man walked towards the cyclist while filming with his phone. When she tried to pass him, he pushed her. Passersby helped the victim out of the ditch and called the emergency services. Officers were quickly able to arrest the suspect.
The victim was treated by ambulance personnel. She then went to a doctor. “She is doing well considering the circumstances,” a local police officer said.
The suspect was taken by the officers to a police station. He was still locked up there on Tuesday morning. The police compliment the passers-by on their appropriate actions. “Thanks to you, the suspect was immediately arrested.”
