Man effectively risks two years for neglecting daughters

DM was initially given a two-year postponement, but according to the public prosecutor, he failed to comply with his conditions.

The mother of a friend stated that the children were “dumped” daily on a playground during the summer holidays of 2019. Despite the heat, their parents did not give them any water and they had to wear their winter boots. According to the witness, the victims always looked dirty and starving. Hygiene facilities at home also clearly left something to be desired. For example, they had no toothbrush and the oldest girl’s warts were not treated. Both children would also have a significant learning disability.

Drugs for them, old chips for the kids

In August 2019, DM and his partner were arrested. Their eldest daughter confirmed the witness’s story. The girl stated that she had to do the housework herself, while her parents used drugs on the couch. They almost only had torn or too small clothes and were given at most one meal a day. When the parents were under the influence, the children often only ate dry cornflakes or old chips.

The investigation also found that DM regularly punched his eldest daughter. This happened when she didn’t want to do the housework, or when her parents feared she would tell other people about her home situation. Finally, the defendants regularly snorted speed in front of their children. Both parents were sentenced to two years in prison with probation on February 17, 2020. The Public Prosecution Service asked Thursday morning to withdraw M.’s conditions. The defense acted according to the wisdom of the court. The defendant had announced that he would provide drug test results, but his lawyer had not received anything in the end.
