It took a while, but the damaged CarWash in Oss is almost like new again. At the beginning of September, a driver lost control of his car and drove his car through the car wash at full throttle. He left a trail of destruction in the car wash. After months of repairs, the cars can now almost join the queue again.
You may remember the footage, because the incident looked quite spectacular. An elderly man accidentally accelerated and his car went through the wash brushes at 50 kilometers per hour. An employee was able to jump out of the way just in time, he just missed hitting a cyclist and the car eventually came to a stop against a tree outside.
“I still shouted: brake! But that didn’t make much sense,” Tom Muskens reflects at Dtv Nieuws. “You sometimes see things like that happen in America, but you don’t expect something like that to ever happen here.”
Fortunately, the driver escaped unscathed. But it soon became clear that there was no more honor to be gained from this car wash. A completely new installation had to be installed. “I thought it would take a while, but I didn’t expect it to take so much time,” says Muskens.
After being closed for almost three months, The CarWash can almost open again. “The machine builders have now almost finished installing the installation. Next week the controls and software will be adjusted and then we will be a long way done,” Muskens sounds cheerful. He expects to reopen the Friday or Saturday before Christmas.
