Man drives into Marechaussee, arrested for attempted murder

A motorist was arrested on Saturday afternoon at the Oliemolen in Roosendaal, because he ran into someone from the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. The man is suspected of attempted murder. No one was injured.

Marechaussees rode their bicycles in Roosendaal on Saturday afternoon, when they saw that a driver of a car did not comply with the traffic rules. They tried to stop him, but he quickly ran away.

“He drove into a dead-end street. A colleague tried to address him. But the driver backed up with his car into one of the colleagues,” says the spokesman for the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee.

Attempted manslaughter
The military police were not injured. “He has been stuck for a while,” said the spokesman. The driver has been arrested for attempted murder. His car has been impounded for further investigation.

Many military police were present in Roosendaal on Saturday afternoon, because of a reunion of the Commando Corps.
