Man drives into crowd commemorating fatal fire: ‘Sorry’ | Abroad

The group had gathered to raise money for the families of the fire, which left three children and seven adults dead on August 5. Saturday evening just after 6 pm, a man drove his car into the group of people. A woman was killed in the process, Times Leader writes.

Shortly afterwards, the police received a report that a woman had been assaulted in a nearby town, Nescopeck, where the fatal fire had previously been raging. The man who drove into the group in Berwick is also suspected of that assault. Whether there is a connection between these incidents and the fire of August 5 is still being investigated.

The man arrested is 24-year-old Adrian Reyes, who is suspected of at least two murders. He is in custody pending further questioning, police spokesman Anthony Petroski said. According to Petroski, Reyes is not yet suspected of being involved in the August 5 fire.

Reyes’ comment on his arrest is said to have been brief: “Sorry.”
