A car has knocked out the front of the Praxis hardware store in Deurne. According to an employee of the store, the man went to get potting soil and made a mistake. He stepped on the accelerator, causing him to back out of the entrance.
The facade of the Praxis on Stationsstraat was destroyed after a car drove into the store around 1.30 pm. “I saw a man get potting soil. He wanted to unload the bags in his car. Then I think he made a mistake so that he depressed the accelerator pedal and not the brake,” says an employee of the hardware store.
Police confirm that the man backed into the store. The driver was checked in an ambulance but nothing was found to be wrong. The fire brigade has propped up the facade. Then the emergency services left.
A lot of havoc is left behind. For example, the flower pots are broken on the ground. According to the employee, the store will remain closed for the rest of the day. “We do not rule out that we will also be closed tomorrow.”
